Opportunities to Grow through Sacred Services

Unity Light of Grace  is a dynamic church of dedicated people expressing their love for God and each other. We have a very special woman, Reverend Denise Landes is leading ‘US’ on how-to-live in this universe daily with all of its possibilities, challenges, and opportunities.

Each person brings his or her special gifts, their unique personalities, joys and challenges, contributions and ideas. We want you just the way you are. We’ll love and nurture you however you present yourself. As you grow independently, spiritually, socially, so does Unity Light of Grace.

We give thanks for our continual spiritual enfoldment and for the people and experiences that nurture our spiritual development. We are, to all, expressions of a loving God to our neighbors as we are to our self. One way to express this love is as a volunteer in selfless service which honors God, self and all others. Every person is capable and qualified for some type of service. Just show up and leave the rest to God. Romans 8:28… “God uses everything that we do for His/Her good purposes and ours.”

Unity Light of Grace has opportunities to nurture your growth. If you are shy, we’ll encourage confidence through a buddy system. If you want to take your social skills to a higher level and create more harmony in your life, we have special events that encourage teamwork and networking. If you want to be behind the scenes of activity, you can join the cleanup committee or work in the office, one on one with the administrator or in a group activity. If you would like to get to know your minister better, you can offer to assist her with any of the various classes, workshops and special services that she facilitates.

How would you like to celebrate life?

Watching others be involved in various activities may give you some satisfaction, but watching isn’t nearly as much fun as being part of a team. Here at Unity Light of Grace, we have a lot of activities to choose from. Just take a look at the many teams you can participate in:

Board of Trustees – The Board of Trustees shall consist of the Senior Minister and six (6) Trustees elected from the membership of the Church. No elected Trustee shall serve more than two (2) consecutive three (3) year terms without an interval of one (1) year between terms. Any person elected to the Board of Trustees shall be a person who is at least twenty-one (21) years of age; has been an active member of a Unity church for at least one (1) year and of Unity of Surprise since the previous spring membership class; has the time and talent to serve effectively; endeavors to live in accord with the Jesus Christ principles of Love and Truth as taught by Unity; is a cheerful tither; is a sincere and continuing student of Unity and conversant with its teachings; is not an employee of the Church, or the spouse, parent, child or significant other of another Board member or employee.

Men of Unity – Our Men of Unity have been involved in the celebration of our Veterans with a special honor guard service, chili dinner, and in providing flowers for all the mothers on Mother’s Day. They serve as butlers at the Annual Women’s Tea and often get together to take in a movie.

Ushers & Greeters – Members of this ministry team, known as ‘Beacon’s of Light & Love’ provide those attending Unity Light of Grace with the “first” glimpse of our Sanctuary and Unity family. Training and guidance are offered by our office administrator.

High Watcher – The High Watcher’s consist of a team of people who hold Prayer Requests in higher consciousness during their daily prayer time. Our Team Leader, Lynda Jacobson receives your prayer requests each Sunday. She will then forward the names on to the team to hold in prayer for 30 days along with Silent Unity.

Prayer Chaplain – Under the guidance and training of Reverend Denise Landes. Our prayer chaplains provide wellness calls the church members monthly as well as being available to the community on Sunday morning to pray with. Unity Light of Grace also provides a daily phone-line message that is provided by each Prayer Chaplain on a monthly basis. Just call the church main number (623) 214-3884 and then extension #3 to access the daily message.

Hospitality – This is one of our most active Sunday morning volunteer opportunities. This team is responsible for training and organization. Joyce Miller trains a host of volunteers to set up, clean up and arrange provided treats for our fellowship hour following the Worship Celebration. These fellowship hours is quite unique in that it often turns into a Sunday brunch. Our bakers and treat providers cater to everyone’s dietary need for gluten-free to sugar-free and vegetarian. We take our dietary needs seriously and promote healthy eating as often as possible.

Special Events – We celebrate our church birthday each June, Independence Day in July,  a Homecoming Dance in November, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Dinner and dance, a Game Day in August… just to name a few. Are you a team player, organized, creative? Do you like social activities and special events? Do you have the time and the energy to plan, organize, promote and play? This opportunity is for you. Each team will consist of 6-9 men and women who desire to serve our ministry and play at the same time. Please note: not every member of this team will have to work on every event, so you can choose your favorite or if you are here only during the winter months, you can help out then.

Receptionist/Hostess – Members of this team will provide support to the Administrator in office procedures and functions. Each project will be matched with the appropriate ‘Office Angel’ based on his or her interest, knowledge, and/or willingness to learn new functions.

Photographer – We are fortunate to have two volunteer photographer’s who take turns capturing the joy of our celebratory events throughout the year. Decoration Committee – We are fortunate to have a team of designers, who have turned our church building into a loving and spiritual home. They are available to decorate for the many holidays as well as assist the Minister with colors and collectible’s that adorn our living space. Their latest project has been the completion of our outside garden that is full of positive affirmations, energy, peace, and tranquility. We are blessed.
